Release Notes
Loremaster Release v1.61.0
🚀 New Features
- Loremaster is on Discord! Invite the Loremaster into your party's Discord server and answer campaign questions without ever leaving the chat.
- Add to Discord button. Account Settings → Profile has a new Discord card with a one-click install link, plus a status indicator showing whether your own Discord account is linked.
/askslash command. Type/ask <your question>in any channel. The first time, an ephemeral picker binds that channel to one of your campaigns; future questions go straight through./dismissslash command. Removes the Loremaster from the current channel until someone re-binds it. Available to whoever bound the channel, the campaign owner, or any Discord server admin with Manage Server.
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Manage sign-in & security from Account Settings. A new Sign-in & Security tab lets you manage your email, password, MFA, active sessions, and linked OAuth accounts (like Discord) without leaving Loremaster.
Loremaster Release v1.53.0
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Richer audio player on session detail. Skip 10 or 30 seconds, scrub the playhead with a hover time preview, and adjust volume or mute. Your volume is remembered across sessions, and the layout reflows on mobile.
- Clearer viewer-only restrictions. When you're viewing a campaign you can't edit, clicking an edit-only action (uploading a session, editing entities, generating portraits, inviting members, and so on) now opens a short modal explaining the restriction instead of silently failing.
- One more free trial session. Trials now include 3 sessions instead of 2. Existing trial users who'd used both prior sessions instantly gain a third.
- Guardrails on the Ask Loremaster chat. A per-user rate limit now protects against runaway clients and compromised accounts. If you ever hit it, the chat tells you how long to wait, and blocked requests don't count against your usage.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- On mobile, dropdown menus and tooltips now render above the bottom nav bar instead of getting clipped behind it, so items like "Log Out" are reachable.
- Cancelling a paid subscription from the Stripe customer portal now correctly flips your account to "Cancels at period end".
- Lapsed sponsorships no longer leave a stale "Sponsoring" badge on a member, and sponsorship slots are reclaimed when a paid plan ends.
- Refreshing an entity's profile is more reliable on entities with long, lyrical timelines.
Loremaster Release v1.46.1
🚀 New Features
- Redesigned campaign home. The campaign home page now reads as a three-act spine: Last Session (your last session, with a jump to the full log), Your Last Steps (your character's portrait, voice, and most recent timeline beats - PC viewers only), and The Wider World (three randomly drawn active quest hooks plus an ambient carousel of recently-mentioned and dormant entities from the world). Click your portrait to open it full-resolution. The carousel pauses on hover and respects reduced-motion preferences.
- Land directly on your favorite campaign. Star a campaign card on the hub to make it your landing page after sign-in. Single-campaign users land on their one campaign automatically. Click the Loremaster logo any time to get back to the hub.
- Table Talk on the session detail page. A randomly selected memorable quote from your session now appears above the scene illustration as a serif block quote, with a short caption setting the scene. Refresh the page for a different moment.
- Faster suggestion review. NPC, location, faction, item, and event suggestions are now accepted automatically into your codex when a session finishes processing. The review queue is reserved for PC and DM timeline updates, where your judgment matters most. Re-running suggestions on a session cleanly replaces its prior auto-accepted entries without duplicates, and any entities you created by hand are left alone.
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- The Suggestions tab in the codex is simpler: the entity-type filter strip is gone (everything else is auto-accepted now), and batch actions collapse into a single "Accept All" since only PC/DM timeline updates remain.
- Release notes now publish independently of app deploys. New notes appear on the in-app
/release-notespage within a couple minutes of merging, instead of waiting for the next feature release.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- The session upload date picker no longer jumps in height when you tab through months with different week counts. Calendar popovers stay put.
- Image lightboxes (portraits, scene illustrations) no longer flash the full image and then revert to a stuck spinner when the picture was already cached.
- Scrolling the timeline strip on an entity's detail page no longer accidentally scrolls the whole page on first load.

Loremaster Release v1.42.0
📣 Heads-up: billing prep continues
More billing UI and backend updates landed this release as we get ready to turn billing on. Nothing is being enforced yet. When billing does go live, alpha testers will receive free product codes as a thank you and to help us keep testing new features on the horizon!
🚀 New Features
- Personalized campaign home. Each campaign now greets you by your character. Owners and editors assign members to one or more PCs (or a DM entity) under a new "Player assignments" section in campaign settings. Once linked, players see "Welcome back, {character name}" with the character's portrait on the campaign home page. If you're linked to multiple characters, pick a default with the new star toggle on the entity detail page. More campaign home page improvements are on the way!
- Player recording consent gate. Before the first audio upload for a campaign, the DM is prompted to confirm all players have consented to being recorded. The acknowledgement is recorded once per DM per campaign and the prompt won't reappear unless the consent disclosure is revised. Transcript-only uploads are unaffected.
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Multi-session uploads queue per campaign. Uploading a second session to the same campaign while the first is still processing no longer steps on the in-flight pipeline. The new upload waits its turn and starts automatically when the prior one finishes. Different campaigns still process in parallel.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Signing in or signing up now lands you on your campaign hub instead of bouncing back to the sign-in page.
Loremaster Release v1.35.0
📣 Heads-up: billing groundwork is landing
A lot of plumbing for paid plans ships in this release, but nothing is being enforced yet - your usage is not metered, you will not be charged, and no limits are active. You may start to notice new billing panels and labels in the UI as we finalize this work. Treat anything in this area as a preview.
🚀 New Features
- Campaign sponsorship "Sponsoring" badge. The campaign settings Members tab now shows a Sponsoring badge next to anyone currently sponsoring that campaign, so it's clear whose plan would be footing the bill. This one is live regardless of billing enforcement.
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Preview: Billing area in Account Settings. Shows a current plan, usage meters for sessions and images, free trial days remaining, and renewal info. Numbers and statuses are not yet authoritative.
- Preview: Subscription plan options. A free trial state on signup, plus a Base plan with monthly and annual options. Checkout flows through Stripe and accepts promo codes. A "Manage Billing" link opens the Stripe customer portal for payment methods and invoices.
- Preview: One-time credit packs. A "Buy more" option for purchasing session and image credit packs.
- Preview: Campaign sponsorship controls. Designate which campaign a plan covers, switchable from Account Settings.
- Preview: Limit notice modal. A friendlier modal that points to upgrading or buying credits when a cap would be hit. Not currently triggered by enforcement.
Loremaster Release v1.13.3
🚀 New Features
- Smarter, faster Ask Loremaster. Answers pull in more relevant lore from across your campaign, and replies arrive sooner on large campaigns. While the Loremaster is thinking, the loading line now cycles through in-voice prompts so it's clear something is happening.
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Campaign hub loads faster. Opening the hub on accounts with many campaigns is noticeably quicker.
- Edit the date of any session. Session dates are now editable from the session detail page, handy for fixing typos or backfilling old sessions.
- In-app patch notes and version indicator. The brand icon menu now shows the currently deployed version, and clicking it takes you to a new in-app patch notes page with the full history of releases.
- Session Zero always sorts as the oldest session. The auto-generated Session Zero (built from your backfill notes at campaign creation) no longer carries a stamped creation date that pushed it into the middle of your session list. It now reliably sits at the top of the timeline as the beginning of the campaign.
- Queued sessions show their pending state right away. Sessions waiting behind other jobs in the processing queue now display a pending state immediately, instead of looking idle until their turn comes up.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Large audio uploads no longer time out. Big session recordings were reliably failing to upload. The upload now streams in chunks with per-chunk retries, so they go through cleanly. This also fixes incorrect audio and image content-type metadata on uploaded files.
- Polish to the Ask Loremaster input on the campaign home.
Loremaster Release v1.8.3
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Character portraits now upload during campaign creation - Selecting a portrait image for a player character in the campaign creation wizard actually uploads it. A progress overlay tracks each upload, and if any portrait fails, the campaign is still created and you can retry the upload from the Codex.
- Session transcription is more resilient to intermittent blank responses from the AI model. Chunks that come back empty are automatically retried instead of failing the entire transcription job.
Loremaster Release v1.8.1
🚀 New Features
- Guided tours - The first time you visit the campaign hub, campaign home, sessions, quests, or codex pages, Loremaster will walk you through the layout and point out the most important things to try. Tours run once per page and remember when you've seen them.
- Hints toggle in account settings - A new "Show Hints" switch under General lets you re-enable the guided tours at any time, or turn them off entirely if you'd prefer to explore on your own.
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Session summary narration (the auto-generated audio reading of a session summary) has been retired. Session audio recordings themselves are unaffected and still available for download.
Loremaster Release v1.6.1
🚀 New Features
- Direct mentions - Loremaster now listens for moments where players speak to it directly during a session (e.g., "hey Loremaster, make a note of this item"). These instructions are captured during summarization and stored separately from the session narrative.
- Inline session editing - You can now edit a session's title, summary, and key events right from the session detail page. A pencil icon opens an edit form with add/remove controls for individual key events, and Loremaster warns you before navigating away with unsaved changes.
- Waitlist page - A dedicated waitlist page lets prospective users sign up, styled to match the rest of the app.
- Drop caps - Session summaries, campaign descriptions, codex digests, and entity descriptions now open with a large decorative first letter in the Loremaster voice style.
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Transcript hidden by default - The raw session transcript no longer appears on the session detail page unless you have debug mode turned on in account settings.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Uploading long session recordings (over 100MB) no longer fails. The file size limit has been raised to 500MB.
- The "This campaign is already in progress" toggle on the campaign creation page no longer causes the page to freeze.
- Sign-in, sign-up, and waitlist forms are now legible in both dark and light mode.
Loremaster Release v1.0.0
🚀 New Features
- Completely rebuilt interface - Loremaster has a brand-new frontend built from the ground up. The entire app - campaigns, sessions, codex, quest log, chat, and account settings - has been redesigned with a glass-morphism aesthetic, faster navigation, and a more polished feel across every page.
- Report an issue - A "Report an issue" option in the user menu lets you submit bug reports and feature requests directly from within the app. Reports are delivered to the development team via email.
- Entity name discovery - When the AI detects that a previously unnamed or placeholder entity (e.g. "The Hooded Stranger") gains a proper name in session events, it can now update the entity's name automatically. The old name is kept as an alias so nothing is lost.
⚙️ Tweaks and Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Dark mode remembers your choice - Your light/dark/system theme preference is now saved to your account instead of browser-only storage. A new theme selector on the Account Settings page replaces the old navbar toggle, and your preference follows you across devices.
- Thematic navigation icons - The nav sidebar and mobile tab bar now use hand-drawn D&D-style silhouette icons from the Game Icons collection, giving the UI a more tabletop feel.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Scene illustrations no longer show a stale cached image after you regenerate them - the browser now picks up the new version immediately.
- Session summaries, titles, taglines, and key events no longer contain stray markdown formatting (bold markers, bullet-point prefixes, header hashes, etc.) that occasionally crept in from the AI model.
- Entity refresh no longer hallucinates physical descriptions when there are no structured appearance observations to draw from. The profile and physical-description tasks now run as separate agents, and the physical-description agent is skipped entirely when there's nothing to work with.
